Plastics Materials 3-day Course

Day 1

Commodity Plastics

1 - Olefins (PP, HDPE, LDPE)

Covering the materials nature, processing techniques / typical use applications and  properties (eg. mechanical, thermal, flow & chemical).

2 – Styrinics (PS, HIPS, SAN, ASA, ABS) & Acrylic (PMMA)

3 – PVC (PPVC & UPVC)

      i/ Explanation of material additives, eg, stabilizers, plasticizers, fillers, etc

Day 2

Intermediate Plastics

4 – Polyurethane (PU RIM technology, TPUR, Foams)

      i/ TPE materials

5 – Thermoset Plastics (Rubber, MF, PF, UF, Un-sat polyester & Epoxy resin)

      i - Explanation of thermoset processing techniques and material formats.

     ii – Introduction to composite technology (inc GRP technology, Kevlar, E-Glass, C-Fibre)  

Day 3

Engineering Plastics

6 – Nylons (polyamides 4.6, 6, 6.6, 11, 12, PAA, PAI)

7 – Polyesters (PC, PET, PETG, PBT)

8 – Acetal & PPO

9 – Polysulphones (PPS, PSU)

10 – PTFE based plastics

11 – LCP’s
