STATISTICAL PROCESS CONTROL

COST:
€ 795 (10% discount for Plastics Ireland Members) Inclusive of course manual, lunch and refreshments.

Overview

The cost of quality is the expense of not doing things right first time, causing valuable resources to be spent finding and reworking defective products.

Statistical Process Control
(SPC) eliminates this waste acting as a detection device to indicate when something is going wrong with the process. Superior Product Quality is achieved by identifying and resolving the causes of the process variation. SPC is an essential tool for companies implementing ISO 9000, QS 9000 and Six Sigma.

COURSE CONTENT
  • Why SPC? (Understanding process variation in plastics processing) Descriptive statistics

  • How to select appropriate control charts
  • Getting SPC started - how to set up SPC charts

The assessment at the end of the programme, if successfully completed, will lead to one credit towards a major(compound) award, of which 8 credits are needed in total. Please see How to achieve a FETAC major award with FPT. Some of our programmes have assignments as part of the assessment which should be completed by the learner after the programme has finished. Full instructions, timelines and ongoing guidance will be given by the course tutor. Most assessments are completed during the programme and results will be made available to learners as soon as they have gone through our Quality Assurance procedures and final submission to FETAC.
