COURSE CONTENT
This course is aimed at process technicians and machine operators that have limited experience/ previous training.
  • Plastic materials used in Extrusion Blow Moulding (such as HDPE, PP, PET ( G ) and PVC)  
  • Pre-production checks that should be completed.  
  • Material handling and preparation  
  • Dealing with regrind
  • Checking heating and temperature control readings.  
  • Starting the machine logically and safely
  • Adjusting die gap and screw speed.  
  • Head Tooling: Die/Core/Core Receiver. Die & Core cleaning  
  • Parison Programming: Function of components and adjustment of profile.  
  • Parison Faults: Drag lines, Poor Distribution and Sagging, etc.  
  • Best practice for monitoring and recording production data · Moulds: Care and routine, maintenance  
  • Blowing: Pressures for Pre blow and Main blow.
  • Process sequence: What happens & when.  
  • Logical and safe shut down procedure  
  • Production faults: Holes, contamination, Shrinkage, Distortion, poor distribution, weak weld, etc. 

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This course is primarily designed for trainee setters and/or any technical personnel who wish to gain a good practical knowledge of extrusion blow moulding.

The assessment at the end of the programme, if successfully completed, will lead to one credit towards a major(compound) award, of which 8 credits are needed in total. Please see How to achieve a FETAC major award with FPT. Some of our programmes have assignments as part of the assessment which should be completed by the learner after the programme has finished. Full instructions, timelines and ongoing guidance will be given by the course tutor. Most assessments are completed during the programme and results will be made available to learners as soon as they have gone through our Quality Assurance procedures and final submission to FETAC.
