Injection Moulding Module 3
Cost: €1,295 (10% discount for Plastic Ireland members)
Inclusive of course manual, lunch and refreshments.
This Injection Moulding course focuses on techniques used to understand and "map" the injection moulding process, reducing moulding inconsistency by understanding its causes and effects. A strong emphasis is placed on giving participants the practical skills to apply both SPC and troubleshooting techniques.
There will be home study on most nights to check understanding.
Course Content Day 1:
Introduction and recap on prior knowledge
Troubleshooting and common faults/ discussion
Troubleshooting software (PICAT)
Machine, Mould, Material familiarisation
Day 2:
Practical 1:
7-Point plan to set up clamp/injection end
discussion re: problems at set up/ Ways of solving
Moulding cycle optimisation
Using SPC
Case Studies
Practical 2:
SPC monitoring of m/c to gather data for day 3
A spec. sheet will be provided with tolerances/ cycle times etc.
Day 3:
Discussion on Day 2 outcomes
Cp/Cpk
Practical 3:
Optimise mould, calculate Cp/Cpk again
Review to improve output
Optimising machine cycle
Case Studies
Practical 4:
Change mould and repeat optimising exercise
Calculate Cp / Cpk
Day 4:
Discussion and Feedback
Case Studies
Practical 5:
Start same machine up from cold and note differences in set-up, i.e.sizes,weights, pressures, etc. If time permits zero and start again. Analysis of SPC in classroom
Our training centre has four Injection Moulding Machines:
Fanuc All Electric Roboshot 100T
Arburg 320c Golden Edition (Hydraulic) 50T ( new)
Demag Ergotech NC4 (Hydraulic) 35T
Krauss Maffei KM50-125c (Hydraulic) 50T
Where possible we restrict Injection Moulding course numbers to just six places using three machines.
Our courses can be run in-company if required, or we can modify any course to your needs. FETAC (NCVA/ CEDEFOP) certification is included in the course costs - The FETAC approved examination conducted at the end of the course counts as one credit towards our Vocational Certificate in Polymer Processing
Who Should Attend?
This course is designed for technical staff with a good working knowledge of injection moulding equipment and troubleshooting techniques. It will be of most benefit to those who strive to understand and increase their control of the moulding process to increase part quality and consistency.

*This programme is a FETAC component (minor) award, certified at Level 5 on the national framework of qualifications (www.nfq.ie ).
The assessment at the end of the programme, if successfully completed, will lead to one credit towards a major(compound) award, of which 8 credits are needed in total. Please see How to achieve a FETAC major award with FPT. Some of our programmes have assignments as part of the assessment which should be completed by the learner after the programme has finished. Full instructions, timelines and ongoing guidance will be given by the course tutor. Most assessments are completed during the programme and results will be made available to learners as soon as they have gone through our Quality Assurance procedures and final submission to FETAC.
